New Baltimore Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company’s (NBVFRC) mission is to provide trained and certified emergency medical services personnel to respond to medical emergencies, and firefighters to provide fire suppression and response to traffic accidents in Fauquier County, Virginia. We also provide mutual aid to surrounding jurisdictions, and can assist with HazMat or technical rescue efforts.
NBVFRC, also known as Company 10, started in a small firehouse on donated land in 1971 when this area was primarily rural. As the area developed, our volunteer base grew and so did the call volume. We now proudly protect over 15,000 people living in a 31 square mile area and are one of the higher volume call stations in Fauquier County with an average of 1800+ calls per year.
We operate in a combination fire/rescue system and have 24/7/365 response for our area. There are six Fauquier County Fire and Rescue-provided, career staff members as advanced live support ambulance (ALS/Medic) crew. All remaining staffing is 100% volunteer with over 55 members currently on the roster.
Our newer, larger station allows us to accommodate more apparatus, including 2 ambulances, a brush truck for wildfires, a command vehicle, two fire engines, and a tanker for water supply in rural areas. The building and apparatus are owned by the company and paid for by tax-free donations from the community. NBVFRC also houses the county’s Incident Support Unit.
